Different Gibson Houseboats, which model, series, or size to buy?

So many different Gibson houseboats, which houseboat model, size, or series do I buy for a large family?

I'm looking to buy a used Gibson houseboat, but I am looking for recommendations and the differences when it comes to year, model, or series?

Also important, I have a large family but want to buy the smallest house boat that is compatible with the largest number of sleepers?

And finally, what is the main differences between the 42-50 models, especially when it comes to living space and sleeping space?

Thanks for any help, James.

Well James, welcome to the houseboat forums, and glad to hear that you're looking to buy a houseboat, especially a Gibson.

Now you were looking at some of the differences of the various models and sizes of boats, and how it can relate to family's sleeping quarters and living space.

As you may be aware, there is many different Gibson houseboat models available, and here a list of the popular names that you're likely to hear:

  • Standard Series

  • Sport Series

  • Executive Series

  • Cabin
    Yacht Series

  • Classic Series

  • 5500 Series

  • 5900 Series

  • Update : If you're looking for a new Gibson boat, we have factory direct pricing.

Now each series has slightly different specs and layout, and each has to be examined through your eyes.

Now if you want to see more about the current year models of Gibson houseboats, I'd recommend going directly to www.gibsonboats.com

If you are looking to see what is available and currently being sold, have a look at our Used Houseboats For Sale page for Classifieds, Sources, and Auctions.

You will likely also get many comments from current Gibson owners able to share the details, and why they chose their specific model. What better than real-life testimonials as to how the boats work out with their families size and activities.

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their Gibson house boat experiences. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats

    Gibson 47 cabin yacht
    by: Willco

I am considering the purchase of a 47' Gibson Cabin Yacht and would like to know where I can locate the overall dimensions; in particular the height from keel to the top of the helm and keel to the floor on the helm.

I need to know if the helm must be removed prior to transporting.
Thank you for any info or web link.

    Regards, Bill
