Classic Houseboats - older brands, models, or makes of boats?

When it comes to classic houseboat manufacturers, we are trying to identify what brand, model, or make of boat this is? This older houseboat was given to us, and we are restoring it.

The roof was blown off in a hurricane so it is not original. Does anyone know the manufacturer? It has a shallow draft and is about 26 - 28 feet long.

Thanks, Tony, Florida, USA

Well Tony, congratulations on your new houseboat acquisition.

The houseboat has some similarities to some of the popular names like Fisher Craft, Nautaline, Chris Craft, Silver Queen, Holiday Mansion etc...

I would say (and am not 100% sure) that it is an older Christ Craft Aquahome houseboat model from the late 60's. You may find a HIN number on the houseboat hull which could help you positively identify it.

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their identifying older classic houseboat brands and models.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats

Good calls

I have a 1969 Chris Craft Aquahome so I can see how the hull looked a lot alike. Cool little houseboat.

I have the same boat
by: Patrick

It's a Drift R Cruz, made by Thunderbird Products out of Miami, yet minus the overhanging roof in the front, mine is a 1967 40' long 12' beam fiberglass.

It was given to me the previous owner didn't have time to remodel it. It had twin diesel pearsons, I'm about 30% finished.

Identifying Houseboats - I have the same boat

It's called a Pixilate. Possibly mid to late sixties. I have the exact boat. Jeff

Houseboat Identification - the identity is likely a Drifter-Cruise
by: BarryG

This looks a lot like a Drifter or Drifter-Cruise houseboat from the mid sixties to me. They made a 26 or 28 foot model, as I recall. Chris Craft's smallest houseboat was 34 feet, I think.

What a great classic houseboat.

Wow, nice gift. Speaking from experience, check into the cost of insurance for a vintage boat. Fewer and fewer underwriters are interested in covering houseboats especially as liveaboards.
