Houseboat Outboard Engine Brackets - build or buy a transom motor bracket?

Houseboat Outboard Engine Motor Transom Bracket.

Houseboat Outboard Engine Motor Transom Bracket.

Any sources for houseboat outboard engine brackets, do I custom build one, or buy a ready made transom motor bracket for my 150 hp engine?

I'm converting from inboard to an outboard engine, and my engine compartment is empty. The transom has been patched, and I'm wanting to go with a 150hp outboard.

I'm needing an external motor bracket. I live in Ft.Walton Bch.,FL.

Any ideas or leads would be great, Thanks, Johnny.

Well Johnny, welcome to the houseboat forums, and glad to hear that the engine removal project is going well.

When it comes to outboard engine brackets, you basically have two choices.

1) If you're skill level allows it, you could custom build one out of aluminum, and install it yourself.

2) If you don't want to get involved in building one, you can purchase a ready made engine bracket for V6 or V8 outboards.

Here are two locations that will help you:

www.marinemanifold.com/partspages/Corsa/gil11.htm

www.fiberglassenginebrackets.com

Either way that you decide to go, you should take a picture of the completed engine transformation project, and share it here for other houseboaters to see.

Your picture will help others, as I am sure that you are not the only person that has considered removing their inboard engine, and dropping an replacement outboard engine on their houseboat transom.

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their houseboat transom motor engine bracket experiences or installations. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats

I did the same thing on my all aluminum Marinette houseboat. Check out the bracket:
