Houseboat History

by David Cron
(Gallatin, Tn.)

Would there be any interest in the history of houseboating? My dad, James Cron and longtime friend Frank Koplin started building Drifters and Stardust Cruisers in 1958 in Gallatin, Tn. They hired Jack Mckee exclusively for sales, he later went on his own to start Drift-R-Cruz, possibly the first fiberglass houseboats. A couple of years ago I went through documents and wrote a short story from the documents and from memory, growing up in the business. How they started and also have some pictures. I am afraid this history will be lost to time. If there is no interest this is okay. Thank you for your time. David M. Cron
