Houseboat SUP - stand up paddling for house boats?

Houseboat SUP - stand up paddling in Sun Valley, Idaho

Aloha, I wanted to know if you have seen very much stand up paddling happening on lakes? I called a few houseboat rental companies to see if they have- or were interested in stocking SUP boards and surprisingly enough they said that "it is not a good fit for the locations they are".

For the first time in the history of surfing you don't need a wave, you can also fish, exercise, travel, surf boat wakes, etc. it's environmentally friendly, easy to store and use, and incredibly fun. It's PERFECT for flat water!

What do you think? Liam

Well Liam, welcome to the houseboat forums, and I think the SUP boards (stand up paddling) are a great item to have on board.

They don't take up much room, and can be use to explore the surrounding areas.

I am not so sure that they are useful to everyone, as I am sure that there is an issue with "balance".

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their houseboat water toys and their SUP (stand up paddling) experiences. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN - from www.all-about-houseboats.com

SUP from a houseboat
by: Clark

Aloha, Liam!

Regarding SUPs, you are spot on. The houseboat sales and rental market is just way behind the curve on this one.

As a surfer at the New Jersey coast, I can attest to the flexibility of a SUP on ALL sorts of water conditions.

For the non-believers that SUPs are equally awesome -- and a natural fit -- on lakes, bays, estuaries, etc., check this out:

Stay on them Liam!

SUP - Stand Up Paddling
by: Mark, South Australia

For a houseboat rental company, kayaks and canoes would be much more attractive rental proposition - more flexible, more stable and more relaxing.
