Houseboat and RV parking combination spot

by Hermine Tippel
(Colorado)

Can Houseboats and RV's park together?

Can Houseboats and RV's park together?

We own a small houseboat, Oma's Haven. My son just bought a small RV. Is there any area on Lake Powell where my son could drive his RV close to where we would beach our houseboat, so we can all be together?

Primitive parking of course is fine. It would have to be in the Bullfrog Marina area since we get launched there, but we could go up north towards Hite if such a combination would be available further north.

Thanks for your help. Hermine Tippel, Oma's Haven

Great idea Hermine, and surely others would like to know. This page will help for the local Lake Powell marinas.

Possibly some of our other readers can post comments below to help you find an area?

RV's and Houseboats at Lake Powell
by: Rocketman

Yes there are a few (very few) spots that you can drive an RV near the water and camp there. A problem is that the few roads that go to the water often are too rough for RV. If you are interested in doing this, I would check over the roads first - before bringing the RV down.

Just south of Bullfrog is one area that I have seen vehicles near the water. There is another downstream from Hite a bit. (but with the water lower I am not sure if the water makes it there - too many years since I have been to that site. There also may be one at the top of Bullfrog Bay near where the Burr trail gets close to the lake.

Also, you could park the RV at the Bullfrog campground, park the houseboat on the other side of Bullfrog bay, then shuttle people in the morning & evening back to the RV.

Good Luck & Have Fun.
