Wide docks make it easy to hang on the dock and chat with fellow boaters. But the best thing is the pump out system.

Each slip is outfitted with a pump out so you can pump out any time you like! It's also fairly secluded but close to other marinas and bars if you prefer a more lively evening.

It's also a year round marina which is rare for Minnesota. We have propane available to heat the boats in winter.

Well Vickie, glad that you took the time to post and share your thoughts on Castaways Marina.

Like you said, it's rare to have a "year-round marina" in Minnesota. Especially one that is secluded yet has close access to other marinas or bars for evening entertainment.

I also see on the map that you are a very short drive to St Paul and Minneapolis MN for folks who need to have access to the city for work or family.

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers and visitors will share and post comments about their houseboat MARINA related experiences and tips.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from All About Houseboats

"All year" Minnesota marina
by: Anonymous

On this side channel of the Mississippi near Saint Paul the ice should indeed freeze quite thick. The marina requires aeration around the boat to prevent freeze-in, and backup is required. Plus the interior of your boat will need heating by propane or another ventable heat source (no wood, kerosene, etc.). A big challenge is dealing with interior condensation.

at the dock pumpouts
by: Vickie Sheehan

There is the temperature limit. We have to winterize the lines. Then when the temp dips above freezing, we have a crew that un-winterizes, pumps everyone out and then re-winterizes. So there can be some long stretches when we can't pump out but it's rare. We have big boats and big holding tanks so most people are ok up to 3 weeks.

Hmmm, pump-outs at every slip
by: altlrumy

I have never seen a marina that had pump-outs at every slip. What a great concept. What temperatures and elevation does this "all season" marina have. I would think it was very very cold up that way?
