Best American Lakes and Waterways for Houseboat Living

by ~Kristin
(Albany, New York)

I live in upstate New York. We keep our boat on Lake George in the Adirondacks. However, you can't live on the lake in a houseboat, mainly because it freezes :(

I was wondering what is considered say...the Top 5 Lakes/waterways in America are for houseboat living?

Reply - Answer
Rhonda, the best places to live on a houseboat have to be in the warmer climate areas such as Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Arizona, California etc...

I'm sure that many of our readers will like to share their experiences. You may get a better idea by looking at the popular houseboat areas.

I hope this all helps...

Lake George houseboat living just from May thru Oct?
by: Les

We want to live on Lake George, are there any restrictions on houseboats on the lake, we would take it out in October to dry dock....

Can someone give me info, Thank You

Sounds do-able to me, however your best bet is to Google "marinas on lake george" and speak to the marina managers directly.

Southern Houseboat Options!
by: Anonymous

Kristen, if you would like to houseboat in the south, and you would like to come South to Alabama or Tennessee? I have several suggestions for locations if you do.

I would also recommend contacting Don and Janet Heavner who own Dreams In Motion, dreams748@aol.com

They not only haul and deliver Large Yachts, Houseboats, Floating Cabins but know personally many Marinas that would be recommendable!
