Any used houseboats for sale in the Bahamas?

Any used houseboats for sale in the Bahamas? I'm interested in finding out if there are any good used house boats for sale in the Bahama island area?

I have seen ads online for rental houseboats in the Bahamas, but I've been unable to find a source for used houseboats for sale there. I would also be interested in information on places that offer dry houseboat storage.

Any help would be great. Thanks...Mark

Well Mark, thanks for posting your question here, since I was also curious about this myself.

My wife and I just got back from a weeks holiday in Nassau, and we did see some pontoon houseboat styles there, yet I didn't see any of them with for sale signs.

In closing, I will try and make some calls to see what I can come up with, and post back. In the meantime, possibly some of our thousands of readers can come through for you.

Lastly, hopefully some of our readers will share and post comments about their Bahamas houseboat experiences. Feel free to use the "Click here to post comments." link found near the bottom of this page.

Thanks again for sharing, IAN from all-about-houseboats

Houseboats in the Bahamas
by: Nick B

My girlfriend and I rented houseboats in Exuma Bahamas every January for 6 years straight. 1999-2005 was the best vacations and experience of our lives!

I believe a new owner took over in 2004 and ran the business into the groud. That was horrible news for us.

They had approximately four 35" one bedroom boats and four 48" two bedroom boats. They where docked  in Georgetown Exuma Bahamas across from Stocking Island.

I would love to know what ever happen to those boats. And also if someone would be smart enough to start that business back up.

It was seriously the best vacation you could ever have. If someone has anymore info about houseboats in Exuma, please post.

We would LOVE to return to the most beautiful area of the world!! Thank You in advance!

We brought the Boxboat across the Gulf Stream, slow but no problem, paid the duty and registered it in the Bahamas. We shipped the trailer over on a freight boat at the same time. We live on it while building. Building almost done. Presently boat sits on trailer in our yard.

32' fiberglass "Boston Whaler" type Hull with I/O VM Diesel, Dana Out Drive. Ideal and great fun to put, put around the Sea of Abaco with only a 30" draft. On the inside it resembles an RV more than a boat.

We have a sailboat too and have to make a choice which one to keep because of the upkeep and are wondering if there is interest for a houseboat, located in this boating ideal area.

Another thought is, to keep it and rent it out on a weekly - monthly basis. What do you all think?

I have shared this info before on this wonderful website, but If you will contact Master Captain Don Hevener, he can give you all the details of why there are so few houseboats in the Bahamas, and his future plans on purchasing and exporting them down there!
